Mary Leese

Co-Chair

“I am currently an ST5 dual Anaesthetics and ICM trainee and I am completing a year in medicine. I first became interested in research when working as an ICU clinical fellow. I took the lead on the “Roc and Roll” RSI project and then on the “ROAR” project. Outside of work, I am interested in climbing and spending time in the outdoors.”

Nicola Powley

Co-Chair

“I am currently an ST6 in Anaesthetics, and have completed a 1 year research fellowship in perioperative medicine after completing core training. I have an interest in lifestyle and preventative medicine as well as regional anaesthesia. Outside of work I enjoy trail running and spending time with my dogs Alfie and Sam”

Kate Woods

Secretary

“I am currently a stage 2 anaesthetic trainee and soon to be dual trainee. I heard about CRANE through fellow trainees and getting involved as a site lead in the temperature project. I am excited to be involved in the interesting and varied work that they do and see what opportunities await! Outside of work I enjoy being out in nature and all things food!”

Vivek Vaidya

“I’m a current stage 1 anaesthetic trainee with previous research experience as an academic foundation programme trainee in the East Midlands and intercalated MRes from Newcastle looking at the effects of High Intensity Interval Training on Cardiac Autonomic Function in Type 2 Diabetes. I have led “NuMB” alongside Zach in the region, as well as maintaining the Regional Project List with the aims to improve project handover and uptake between rotations. Outside of work I enjoy surfing/biking, perks of living in the North East and being able to do both often! “
